JOB DESCRIPTIONS/POWER AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DEPARTMENTS
HEAD OF DIVISION
The duties carried out by the Head of Division are as follows:
Forwarding publication requests of academic writers at the university to the Publishing Commission, organizing the Publishing Commission Meeting, the secretariat procedures of the committee, presenting the conclusions after meeting to the University Board, specifying technical specifications such as color, size, type and quality of paper, quantity, and printing type, and costs of the works approved for publication/printing and all others printing and publishing requests off individuals and others units in the university campus, determining the cost for publishing jobs, delivering price quotient documents to relevant departments, ensuring the printing of the works, specifying the sales price for university publications, receiving ISBN numbers, purchasing of banderole, conducting the regarding written correspondence with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, arranging on-site sales of university publications with specified costs and valid ISBN and banderoles to our students and all others outside buyers, tracking and managing the sales, shipment and taking inventory for the products on the university's online book sales webpage.
PRODUCTION STAGES
FUNCTION OF THE GRAPHIC DESIGN AND TYPESETTING UNIT
The jobs performed at the graphic design and typesetting unit are typesetting and page layout for books, textbooks and periodicals to be printed, design, institutional ID design, logo design, cover design, brochure, file kit, poster and business card design.
FUNCTION OF THE MONTAGE UNIT
At the montage unit, the works to be printed at the offset printing unit, for which printouts have been made on tracing paper, are manually assembled onto transparent sheets called astrolon according to page number and size.
FUNCTION IF THE TEMPLATE UNIT
In this unit, the visual on astrolon sheets assembled according to a specific technical order at the montage unit is transferred to templates by being exposed onto contact print frames and treated with a chemical process in order for the image to form on the templates so that they are ready to be used on the offset printing unit.
FUNCTION OF THE OFFSET PRINTING UNIT
At the offset printing unit, the templates sent from the montage unit and which contain the image formed by micron degree elevations on the templates are affixed to the machine suitable for its size and printed according to color and paper specifications. At the offset printing unit, high circulation printing jobs like magazines, books, brochures, posters, and large scale printing jobs are performed.
FUNCTION OF THE DIGITAL PRINTING UNIT
At this unit, works suitable to be printed at a digital printing unit in terms of number of prints and technical specifications are printed by being transferred from the computer to digital machines. At the digital printing unit, low circulation printing jobs such as brochures, posters, invitations, magazines, catalogs, works with fewer number of pages, low scale jobs and jobs that need to be delivered in a short time are performed.
FUNCTION OF THE PLOTTER PRINTING UNIT
At this unit, works suitable to be printed at the plotter printing unit in terms of number of prints and technical specifications are printed by being transferred from the computer to digital machines. Some jobs undertaken at the plotter printing unit are low circulation jobs such as canvas, posters, cloth banners, panel bottom printing and photo printing, jobs that involve a large surface area and large-size jobs.
FUNCTION OF THE COMPOSING UNIT
Works to be printed at the typography unit and that require numbering like receipts and sales slips are manually assembled using cast type face according to a certain technique.
FUNCTION OF THE TYPOGRAPHY PRINTING UNIT
Works that are suitable to be printed at the typography printing unit in terms of number of prints and technical specifications are printed after the cast typeface letters prepared at the composing unit are assembled into specific molds which are then attached to the printing machine. At the typography printing unit, auto copy, multiple-copy, numbered documents such as sales slips, various delivery receipts and hospital documents are printed.
FUNCTION OF THE BINDERY
Single piece jobs that are printed are cut, jobs that involve multiple pages like books, textbooks, and periodicals are folded, collated, and finally covered and packaged.
FUNCTION OF THE REVOLVING FUND SUBUNIT
This unit is responsible for collecting the costs of completed printing jobs, following up on these, salary accruement, purchasing, and other circulating capital procedures.
